Patrick J. Jones

Teresa A. Rodman graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Psychology.  She completed her student teaching Elementary Education.  She graduated from Queens College in Flushing, New York with a Masters of Science in Education degree in special education with a desire to teach children with special needs. 


She taught children with autism in a self-contained classroom and as a Special Education Teacher for children with Developmental Disabilities in the Public Schools for several years and also privately tutored two students with autism at their home after school.   After several years, she decided to stay home full time to raise our family. Her and her husband have six children and have always homeschooled.  For part of that time, the children participated in the Classical Conversations homeschool program  http://www.classicalconversations.com/.  Teresa tutored the children at Classical Conversations in Front Royal for two years and then launched and directed a new Classical Conversations program at Rileyville Baptist Church in Rileyville, Virginia for two years. 


Mrs. Rodmans experience with public, private, and homeschool education offers a unique perspective to the challenges facing many education and youth serving institutions.

Patrick Jones, an educator and social worker, received a BS degree in accounting from Long Island University, an MS in education from Hofstra University, and an MSW in social work from Adelphi University.  He is a past high school teacher and has taught in the Masters of Social Work and Social Welfare programs at Adelphi, and Stony Brook Universities as well as at the South Oaks Hospital certificate program in addictions. 


He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has directed several addiction programs in the New York and Long Island areas as well as a private practice in the mental health and addictions fields for over 30 years. 


Mr. Jones was a founding board member and past president of the NYS Coalition for Children of Addictions, and has served on other boards in the social work field.  He has given workshops throughout New York State and the Northeast on both mental health and addictions.

Dr. Rodman co-founded The Transforming Group with Dr. Jones knowing that their combined strengths offered a powerful resource to nearly any type of client.


Dr. Jeffrey J. Rodman has over twenty years of experience working with hundreds of school systems, units of government, hospitals, treatment programs, community based organizations, churches, ministries, and other nonprofits from across the United States and from dozens of other countries.


In addition to a PhD, Dr. Rodman has a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling with additional expertise in mental health, substance abuse and delinquency creating a diversity of experience ideally suited for today’s complex Education Grants which are often coordinated with SAMHSA, DOJ, OJJDP, and other agencies.

He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and holds additional certifications as a Master Addictions Counselor, a Certified Clinical Criminal Justice Specialist, Nationally Certified Addiction Prevention Specialist (NCAPS), and a Certified Domestic Violence Counselor (CDVC).

Dr. Mary Lou Jones

Dr. Mary Lou Jones is the co-founder and principle partner of The Transforming Group.  


Dr. Mary Lou Jones has worked both in the addiction and mental health fields for over 30 years.  She started with the South Shore Child Guidance Center (SSCGC) in 1984 when she developed and directed the C.A.R.E. Center (Children's addiction Resource & Education Center). This program was the first program funded by NY State focusing on children of addicts.  After 14 years working in private practiced. Jones returned to the SSCGC as the Executive Director where she served until her retirement in 2014.


Dr. Jones  has served on the Health And Welfare Council Board of Long Island, Chaired the Coalition on Voluntary Mental Health Agencies in Nassau County, and was the President of the Agency Executive Council Board of the United Way of Long Island. Published in numerous papers and journals, Dr. Jones is a well sought after expert in the field of mental health with a specialty interest in children and families.  In addition, Dr. Jones has taught as an adjunct professor at both SUNY Stony Brook and Adelphi University.


In 2010, the Zonta Club of Long Island recognized Dr. Jones as their “Women of the Year.”  The name Zonta is a word taken from the language of the Sioux Indians and it stands for honesty, trust, inspiration and the ability to work together for service and understanding.
